A Story From Long Ago

A great big HELLO to my loving readers! Merry 19 days til Christmas! Actually.. its closer to 18 but its only 4:50 as I start writing this post... But anyway! I have a story from the middle of summer that I have decided to share with you! Its not impressive in any way, shape or form but I think that you deserve a post of some sort seeing as I haven't "graced you" with my written presence in... a while.. So I hope you enjoy my story beginning but I don't expect anything! Hopefully More to come,
Dan the Man

Marc and the Camero
I
He flicked the old rag, once, twice, half expecting something magical or extraordinary to appear before him. He mumbled random incantations. Incubus rationalus. Berco tiendan. Then finally ABRACADABRA!  Still… nothing. Disappointed, he folded the battered piece of cloth and put it away in his wooden box of magic tricks.
Marc was a typical teenager, he hung out with friends, had hobbies and did well in school. At least that’s what his parents thought. In reality, this was far from the truth. Marc did NOT have friends, at least not close ones, he did NOT have “hobbies” and he definitely did NOT do well in school but his parents didn’t care enough to notice. They were always traveling from one place to another. Africa, Siberia, Portugal, Italy. They never really stayed in once place for more than a few months. Marc, on the other hand, had lived with his unruly Uncle Jake in Moose River, Maine for his 15 years of existence.
Moose River was a small town. It never had more than 300 people living there and was usually pretty quiet. Anything out of the ordinary was big news like when “little” Carrie got bitten by a snake and had to be rushed to the hospital or when Mr. O’Reilly lost control of his tractor and plowed his neighbor’s front lawn. But there was always one person who could be counted on to make a disturbance just as things were starting to settle down. That one person was Marc Stanziano.
Marc hardly ever went to school anymore but instead he toyed around in the garage while Uncle Jake was at work. They had found an old broken down Camaro and were trying to fix it up. Sadly, high quality car parts were hard to find in such a small town, so they had to be ordered and shipped in. So far they had almost nothing done other than replacing the old engine which was still quite a feat, but they wanted to finish the job.
Then one day while Marc and Uncle Jake were working in the garage, something strange happened. Every day Marc practiced his magic tricks. He had gotten pretty good in the last 3 years but he still wasn’t satisfied. He wanted real magic. But on this particular rainy day he felt something strange and different but when he had tried to start the car by waving his “magic cloth” and saying incantations, nothing had happened. But something HAD changed. Uncle Jake had an odd look on his face, almost dreamy, and when Marc asked him what was wrong he replied “I have an idea… Lets try and start this baby!” Surprised but intrigued, Marc walked over to the passenger’s seat and got in. It still smelled like old shoes and mud. That would have to change. Jake got in and stuck a rusty screwdriver into the ignition and turned.

II
The car made an ugly noise, almost like the noise made by a sick person clearing their throat; guttural and choppy.   (Amaze me... write something you think deserves to be in chapter II! And email it to Djsman72795@yahoo.com  Always thankful for feedback of any sort!)
